  • I went to Public school for most of my life until sophmore year and let me tell you I liked it because I went at my own pase and graduated before my class mates, but it kinda sucked because I have no social skills because I was always alone, my friends were busy after I quit school so I never had anyone to talk to or hang out with. I missed prom and graduation with my friends. ALl the dances and homecomings. I hated it. I still fill like I missed out on a lot.
  • Disadvantages? It can be hard work sometimes. You are the only one responsible for your kids education - you can't blame a failure on anyone else. Advantages? Avoiding public school attempts to supercede your parental authority. Avoiding the lack of Christian values in public schools. Avoiding the sometimes severe harassment from other students and teachers. Avoiding the poor teaching in public schools. Your kids get to learn at their own pace instead of the group's pace. Cafeteria food - need I say more? Security at public schools is a nightmare! I'll bet you wont need a metal detector or a bomb sniffing dog in your house. Avoiding the sexual pressure amoung kids as young as 8 or 9 in public schools. The list goes on an on. • There are pretty much no disadvantages except that it is hard work, and kids sometimes can't do things that all their friends are doing because they don't belong to the same school or their friends are busy. And, sometimes other kids think homeschooled kids are freaks. Advantages are numerous..... you can spend more time with your child and you will most likely get close to your kid. Your did can go to the bathroom, get a drink, get a snack, get up when they want, and wear what they want. These are all things you can't to in Public school. Kids don't have to deal with the drama and teachers at Public school. If anyone lives in Pennsylvania, a great homeschooling program is www.pacyber.org.
  • I don't believe there are any advantages except you picking what your child is being taught, who even knows if that is an advantage. I personally think school and everything it is about is important to a child. I loved school and would have hated my parents if the pulled me out to home school me.
  • The downside is that the government makes it really hard for parents to homeschool their kids. There is a butt load of red tape, paperwork and maintenence on the part of the parent to keep that child out of the public school system where they often get bullied or become an afterthought and a statistic and in the home where when done correctly, they are monitored and recieve personal one on one learning. Ironically... That is also the upside as you do not want just anyone homeschooling children. Or having them for that matter. Some kids SHOULD be in school as some people shouldn't be parents!
