Help answer this question below.

Some 20 year-old guy came on here and talked about his 16 year-old girlfriend. That's a four year difference. I'm 17. If I were to go out with a 13 year-old, would that be as acceptable?

at 16 you are old enough to make your own mind up and age is just a number,however 13 is still just a kid and for a 17 yr old to go out with a 13 yr old would be wrong. why would a 17 yr old want to go out with a 13 yr old anyway.

It's a sticky situation either way. If he is dating a 16-year-old and he is 20, then there are legal repercussions if her parents choose to pursue them. Legally, it is acceptable to date someone who is 13 when you are 17, but do you really want to have a romantic relationship with someone that young?

- By the by, my soon-to-be ex-husband is 14 years older than me. But, we were both of legal age. So after 18, I think age differences aren't a huge deal...and that certainly was not the breakdown of my marriage.

- I agree. Once you get past eighteen things like that are pretty much okay. Although some people don't fully mature (mentally) until way into their thirties.

a 20 year old shouldn't be dating a 16 year old. Maybe once the 16 year old is 18, and he's 22, it wouldn't be so bad. But not at 16...

I don't think it's the age difference that people see. It's the age of the younger person and the fact that a 13 year old is probably not old enough to have a relationship. For example a 28 and a 32 year old...does that seem bad in any way to anyone??
