  • Nope, my b/f has a childhood friend in a wheelchair - he's a normal guy like anyone else. He's great fun to be around :)
  • I have worked with many people who need to utilize a wheelchair and no I do not think differently of them except that they have more of a challenge to overcome from stereotyping than their disability.
  • I asked this question cause I have recently had to use a wheelchair and I noticed SO many people looking at me... possiblly bc I'm young, but this made me wonder if maybe I, without realizing it, also starred.
  • I am sorry to say I do. I had a retail store and it was always difficult to get someone in with a wheelchair. I tried to make it as comfortable as I could for them when they were looking around but the truth is I was afraid they would knock something over.
  • I notice they are in a chair, and sometimes i wonder the cause but I don't think of them as being odd or strange. I've known several people who have lived most of their lives in a chair. They are just people with a different 'view' of the world :-)
  • My brother uses a wheelchair and I was sick of people looking at him badly so I sat in the chair and he sat in my lap :) . so no I don't
  • I don't think differently of them I just wonder what got them that way. I'm just curious of everyones story, know what I mean?
  • No as I am phsically disabled. Most people tend to judge us as brain dead, they are very wrong.By the way I am no longer a wheelchair user for mobility.Sometimes people asked what happened which is rude. Some of our club members are wheelchair users and can do most things.
  • I honestly do not. They sometimes look at me that way. It's a matter of how you carry yourself, standing, or seated. Self Confidence is the key to make the outer superficial nonsence disapear.
  • I have a much better view of humanity. The first reaction of most, I think, is "There but for the Grace of God go I." And that goes for ANY disability or special needs person. Only the utmost shallow would think otherwise.
  • I think people only look because they are curious as to why you are in the chair...my mother is in a wheelchair & she always moves around with this attitude of entitlement...you better get out of her way cuz she is in a wheelchair & you better watch out for her cuz she is in a wheelchair but i know everyone that is in a wheelchair is not like that, she is just old & bitter & being in a wheelchair is her excuse to be rude!
  • I really hope that people don't judge, I am really ill and it is terryfing me!
  • To me it depends on their state of mind. If they are normal developmentally, then I think nothing of the wheelchair. If they have a developmental problem (i.e. cerebral palsy, etc) I can't help but think differently of them :s
  • Some people might think differently about you. But most people are kind and compassionate to a person in a wheelchair. If they are rude just ignore them. You wouldn't need them around you anyway. Good luck in everything you do.
