Similar as in vampires and high school? The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and Vamps by Nancy Collins. They're a bit lighter, but still entertaining. I think the Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare and The Guardians of Time trilogy by Marianne Curley are both good, and have the same kind of tension as Meyer's, although they emphasize the Epic Love a little less. (well, and no vampires, just other supernatural stuff.) I don't think I've really read anything in the 'adult fiction' half of the bookstore that seemed much like Twilight, though.

I agree the Vampire Academy Series are great books. I also liked the Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine (5 books) and I also like the House of Night Series by P.C. Cast (4 books and 1 due out in March).
