Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a 96 Explorer Limited that has had the alternator replaced and a new battery but now won't start. I've been told it's the PCM???? or the starter relay. Vehicle turns over and has plenty of spark but just wont start.

have you checked fuel pressure? If it turns over you dont need a starter relay, and the possibility of you needing a pcm is probably pretty slim. I work for the local police department as a mechanic and i have never seen a ford pcm go bad. Check fuel pressure, if you have no pressure then check your fuses and relays. If they are good see if you can get to the connector for the fuel pump and check for power there, there should be a constant 12 volts. You will need someone to turn the key to the on position and you will have ground at that connector for 3 seconds. If all is good then you need to replace the fuel pump.

first stop on a fuel injected vehicle should always be the fuel pump or related wiring
