  • You probably don't need a new hard drive. If you have a Trojan, your best bet is likely to format the drive and reinstall your OS, or better yet install a superior one like Linux or FreeBSD. If you don't want to do that you might be able to get rid of the Trojan by using a "Live CD" like Bart's PE or INSERT. These come with antivirus programs you can run without booting into the infected system so that the existing viruses won't be able to spoof the antivirus. Once the viruses and such are gone you can boot back into Windows and fix whatever settings may have been messed up. You might not even get stuck into safe mode at that point. If you do, you can probably choose the "Last Known Good" configuration from the menu (I don't remember exactly what that's called.)
  • If the Red Trojan appeared on your computer, then its heading for disaster....a complete virus takeover. Happen to me. i had 889 viruses, till finally it shut my computer completely down. Technician advised to burn it and start all over. I did this and now have three anti-virus protections on my computer. the walls have walls. Seriously, start all over.
