There are a lot of types of music I would like to blast off the planet--forget the urge to nix them from the list of what should and should not be worthy of being a genre. Emo being considered a genre doesn't bother me to be perfectly honest.

Why not? It's as much a genre as grunge or goth or anythig else.

The Emo genre is kinda undergroud. Most of the bands that people label Emo, are actually Pop-Punk, or things like that. REAL emo is actually good, but I dont really like this stuff that people try to pass of as Emo.

Well, imho it does suck, but as mentioned, it is just my humble opinion. On the lighter side, a stupid emo joke: Why is it a good thing to have an emo lawn?

Hell no, its just a rip off of pretty much every other rock genre out there right now, some of them sound kinda punk, some sound really mainstream, but there is not one emo band that sounds original nor has there ever been. I know that most music today sounds like something else, but not only is emo completely unoriginal, its just too goddamn annoying.

Emo is a genre of music, whether you like it or not. This is because it is different enough for certain people to identify with it, or at least like it more than other types of music. Why shouldn't it be considered a genre?
