Our general societal approach to sex is, in my opinion, really messed up. There is nothing sinful or wrong about sex, it is we who make it so. Sex is here to stay so deal with it. How? By acknowledging the reality of sexual urges. Sex education should begin at home, from the beginning. Parents should not feel uncomfortable being naked around their children (or around each other, for that matter). Matter of sex, sexual activity and sexual curiosity should be met with openness and honesty. How babies are "made", where they come from and the details should be discussed freely. Sex and birth are beautiful subjects and deserve honor and respect. Open and free acknowledgment of sexuality is the healthiest approach. The trouble is, most families find the subject difficult and hope the schools will deal with it. There is no substitution for home education on this subject. But the home education must be honest and forthright.
