I am watching the news. Did you know you must have a permit to fly the American flag in Palm Beach? What are thoughts on this?

Most people who fly it don't even know the US flag code. I'm all for a permit that requires someone to learn how they're supposed to treat the flag before they can just throw it up and dishonor it. After 9/11, people were flying flags backwards, unlit at night, touching the ground, ragged and tattered, etc. And then people were throwing them in the trash unstead of burning them, etc. If the permit is there to keep people from flying it when they don't know how they're supposed to treat it, then it seems reasonable!

I think it's utter insanity! A permit for flying the American flag!?? What's next? A window sticker for gays? Jeez
