I think that questions that ask things on the basis of false assumptions are stupid. For example "Why don't jews wash more? They smell so bad!" I don't think anyone has asked one that bad yet though.
-
Ive seen and heard lots of stupid questions. ex. Is this chicken or tuna?
-
I don't think that questions can be stupid, but the timingof the questions, the situation of the question and who asks the question can be stupid - so there are stupid people but no stupid questions.
-
Yes, there are indeed stupid questions.
-
Welcome to answerbag where you will find both. lol
-
We have both, unfortunately. For instance, I have one rating down my answers right now because I've apparently ticked him/her off. The question about tar and birds is stupid, too.
-
A wise man once said, There are no Stupid Questions, only Stupid answers.
-
Yes, there are a lot of stupid questions.
-
Both!
-
There have been a number of stupid questions on AB and a number of stupid questions i have been asked in life as well. The scary thing is some of these stupid questions have come from intelligent people. Unfortunately there are a number of stupid people around too.
-
No such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people. The question is there for a reason, to be answered!
-
God, what a stupid question!
-
I believe there are stupid questions, depending on how, when, and sometimes who, is asking.
-
Both, and both in very large numbers
-
No, there is no such thing as a stupid question or stupid people. However their is a large majority of every populas that may challenge the balances of common sense and native intelligence or simply may lack the metal capacity to discern the relationship between the two. Certain inquiries may seem insulting to ones own intelligence, but one must also keep in mind that not everyone has yet to attain a certain grip on reality, and native intelligence, therefore they must test the waters so to speak, to get a feel for their own mental capacity by challenging others. Most Q's posted here on AB, are meant to challenge or even tease ones mental capacity as well. It's expected, if not, it should be. Prepare to be confounded or even insulted on most Q&A, the best thing you can do is to utilize your native intelligence to deal with it accordingly and effectively.
-
This depends if you ask yourself if the question is stupid.
-
There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid people asking questions.
-
I don't think so. I think every question is a good one.
-
There is now...j/k.
-
Your Darn Tootin' there is
-
Yes there is. Its a myth that there are no such things as a stupid question. But people just sometimes do it on purpose posting something like: "Why does jonny bounce?"
-
Only ones that involve Eminem or what ethnicity has the prettiest babies are stupid questions.
-
Only the one that's not asked.
-
Yes there is.It's when a women with a big butt asks if those pants make her butt look big. It's a trick question. If you say no your lieing and if you say yes. She's gonna think your a jerk.
-
As I tell my students, "The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked or the one that is directly answered in the syllabus."
-
ooooh. i like that question. i almost wish i had asked it myself. erm, i was going to immediatly answer yes but now i'm not so sure. No i am, YES. example; "are you going out tonight?" is not a stupid question. But If i have repeatedly said i'm not going out before hand then it's an average question being asked by a stupid person. okay. i think i've confused myself.
-
No. They're not mutually exclusive occurrences. Stupid people tend to ask stupid questions.
-
No. There are definetly stupid questions. Most normally they are asked by stupid people though!
-
i dont think there are any stupid questions - and id rather label somebody as ignorant of the facts or uninformed rather than stupid -
-
Stupidity (the state of being in a stupor) is not asking the questions that need to be asked or listening to the answers. Questions are important and are only stupid if the person is unwilling to ask or receive the answers.
-
"Remember that there is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people asking questions."
-
both. college really opened up my eyes. i used to believe there were only stupid questions - until i was sorely proved wrong when i went to college. now i hear them everywhere.
-
it's true!!!
-
Yes I've heard some pretty stupid questions.
-
I disagree. I think there are stupid questions. For instance - What is the odor of purple? What color is the taste "salty?" - A gramatically correct question that that does not make sense is a stupid question in my opinion.
-
no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
-
Both.
-
yes i m stupid
-
Hahaha! No. There ARE stupid questions but why give them the impression they said something dumb. We should be building people up, not knocking them down.
-
NO...1/3 of the questions on this site are stupid.
-
ROTFLMAO, I have been on AB long enough to know, there are definitely DUMB questions.
-
yes it's the twooooth!
-
Are you kidding? I could list dozens of people on AB who do Nothing but produce stupid questions. People who say There is no such thing as a stupid question are only being polite.
-
I think that is true.I do think that what can be called "stupid" is the way the question is asked.Sure, thier are many crazy questions asked all the time.Thing is you must decide if those are worth your time to answer...lol...Is My opinion.Doesnt make it right or wrong.Just Mine.
-
Yes. Then again, there are exceptions to every rule. Even the rule that says there are exceptions to every rule.
-
There are certainly stupid questions in this world but the only way to eliminate them is to answer them.
-
I just chanced on one of those questions (which has been rejected: "i am having an olive loaf sandwich for dinner, do you want one?" Source and further information: http://www.answerbag.com/a_view/6125468 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1383377 This question is stupid in the sense that it sounds like you were proposed to have something, but nobody will expect the asker to give it to them. And it is asking for a piece of information that is not particularly interesting. So what the heck with this question? It is just here to help people have some fun. And many people on here want to have fun: that question got 14 answers! Actually, this question is not *really* asking whether someone will "an olive loaf sandwich", but rather if someone wants to have fun. So yes, such questions are somehow stupid, and we don't need to keep them forever because we won't want to know the answers in 6 months. But on the other side, they seem to be useful, because they make people have some fun at the moment where they are asked.
-
No, because most of the questions people ask me at work ARE stupid. Lol.
