"Live like you are dying". I am drawing a blank on who sings it but I know it is a country song. I just lost my Dad and every time I hear it, I cry.

My favorite "in personal anguish" song is Pain in Any Language by Apollo 440. There's Who Wants to Live Forever by Queen, Lightning Crashes by Live, My Lover's Gone by Dido, Somebody Kill Me by Adam Sandler (Wedding Singer soundtrack), and King of Pain by The Police. Also, Hurt, That's What I Get and several others by Nine Inch Nails. There are a lot of songs by Stabbing Westward that qualify. Torn Apart and Waking Up Beside You are the first two that come to mind. Those guys don't seem to be very happy at all. Of course, The Cure has a wonderful selection of grief riddled tunes. The Bloodflowers album has some great ones. Finally, I have included the video of a song that has a lot to do with death.

So you want sad songs, yes? I better make a list. Sad Bastard Songs: - "Lithium" by Nirvana - "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana - "Child Psychology" by Black Box Recorder - "Mad World" by Gary Jules - "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Öyster Cult - "Coma Black" by Marilyn Manson - "Coma White" by Marilyn Manson - "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails - "Needle in the Hay" by Elliott Smith - "Jumpers" by Sleater-Kinney Most of these are about death, and all of them are depressing.
