A real friend would let you agree to disagree, but if you'd rather not go there, just avoid politics.

I feel a good friend will be brutally honest. Who can help you if your friends don't thats how I feel. I always tell my friends to tell me the flat truth and they do no holds barred on that one.

Why not? He's your friend, isn't he?

I would :)

Of course I would. Why not? We would probably have had some very spirited discussions. Now, just because my friend worked with the guy wouldn't necessarily mean he/she was a fan. A job is a job and getting paid well is sometimes enough for some people. I couldn't work for someone whom I didn't like but people can and do. In any case I wouldn't lie to my friend! :)

if you were close friends, she / he would already know of your feelings, but certainly a good relationship will not be affected. good day to you

I personally wouldn't say anything to the friend about how I feel about anyone other then them. (how does talking about someone else ,president or not enrich a friendship when you know this person may have the utmost respect for the person you are trashing?) It doesn't. But if I did spill the beans, I would be aware that my friend would/should now have the voice to disagree with me and let me know why. People too often dump on another person and then expect that person to "take it". If you open that can of worms, don't be surprised if you get cut by the lid.
