  • My brother and I each had one when we were kids. Their names were Ren and Stimpy. They were mean little guys though. Always tried biting us. So, mom made us give them up.
  • I have a 12 year old ferret, they only live to be about 8 years old. I am a critical care nurse at an animal hospital. I have raised mine to be a "house ferret" He has a 3 tierd cage that he eats, sleeps in, and poops in, but the cage door is never closed. He is very healthy, no tumors and hair loss, most of then die of cancer at about 6 years old. If you treat them like a hamster or a fish, they will be very depressed. They need constant affection when they are young. They naturally bite HARD when they are young. They dont work with their "hands", thats whats what their mouths are for. they are so jumpy and active when they are young, that they feel hitting when they are young when they are bad is actually a form of play. Better forms of correction is to LIGHTLY flick them in the nose when they are doing something wrong. P.S. they love to lick hands due to the saltiness of our hands. But I can let my boy hold on to my thumb and swing from it if it does not hurt, but he knows if he bites too hard he will still get a little flick. ...Katana.1979@yahoo.com
