So your telling me that no matter how much of it I drink it wont make me thin? One possible reaction when challenged...

people feel that because there are no calories in the "diet coke" they can have the third and fourth BigMac ®.

I doubt very seriously if it is the "norm" but I have actually seen people drink diet soda with their Snickers bars. Not all people who drink diet drinks are overweight, in fact, I would say that the opposite is true more times than not. maybe the ones you have observed are just starting a diet.

Is that a proven fact?

How do you know that the person you are ridiculing hasn't been losing weight (maybe they still weigh 300lbs, but started at like 400) very dangerous to judge people on appearance. Also, Diet Coke is something a lot of people drink for different reasons. My son, for example, cannot ingest sucrose regular sugars), and although he is underweight, he has to drink sugar-free sodas.

I'm not sure about this, but I'm sure that since the word diet is on it it might be why you observed this. Most people I know who drink diet sodas do it because they need to for some reason or another. I heard somewhere that diet soda was actually worse for a person. I think your observation is just a coincidence. Plus, how many people do you see walking around carrying soda with them?

Most of the people I know that drink diet soda remain the same weight, and it's usually more than it should be. Some of them are diabetic due to their weight and no longer have a choice. Part of it is the fact that they don't watch the rest of their diet. The lack of the normal things that tell a person they are full means that they over-indulge. Personally, I can NOT eat unless I am hungry, and will feel full fairly quickly if I eat full-fat, real-sugar foods but can snarf down "fake" food like there is no tomorrow, feeling starved even as my stomach is ready to burst. I think it is a coincidence.
