    Because people crave something new and refreshing, and weird things satisfy that craving. If I created a site that behaved exactly the same as answerbag, do you think it would draw users away from answerbag? I doubt it. They've already got something that fills that need for them. You need something weird and different to get attention. Unless you're the music industry. Then you can just rehash the same crap over and over and people will eat it up unconditionally.
