Most of them probably have some merit, but I think that if any of them really worked, weight wouldn't be the problem and billion dollar industry that it is today.

Yep, I've read several. I would completly stay away from them and head to Weight Watchers.

I read the Paul Mckenna one. It was ok but didn't work for me because I have no self control.

Well it's not a 'diet' book per say. It's a book called 'Flip the Switch' and it's about how to speed your metabolism up, with herbs and certain foods. And how to regionize you feel full. For example, before a meal, drink a full glass of water or juice - wait 30 minutes - and then eat a normal portion meal. You will feel full and for a healthy portion of food :] I GIVE IT A THUMBS UP! I think it's REALLY working x3

All diet books are bad. All a diet does is starve you while your body reacts by slowing your metabolism for a short period. When you get off the diet your metabolism stays down for a while, as you consume more food and put the weight right back on. Exercise and healthy eating is the only way to lose weight that will stay off.

Through the years I have tried everything. The only thing that has worked is the low-carb diet..the one promulgated by Dr. Atkins for 30 + years, for which he took a lot of flak, but which has turned out to have a very valid physiological basis. 75% of us are sensitive to carbohydrates. So if we eat bagels, white bread, pasta..all fat-free..thinking we are doing ourselves a favor, we are not. All simple carbs are converted into sugar by the body..which drives up insulin, and in so doing creates a perpetual hunger..also, one bloats up from the water that is retained by a hi-carb diet. I am speaking from my personal experience. Once I stopped eating "the enemy" I had no problem. Happy Sunday! :)

I have read none. Luckily, I don't need to read any :) My Mum owns one, but no-one in the house has ever read it.

I read one from Prevention - get thin or something like that, it wasn't particularly helpful.
