Probably not. You're marriage would not be recognized by the Church, therefore you and your husband have been living in sin for the past 28 years. You would have to get your marriage validated in the eyes of the Catholic Church, no easy task. You would obviously have to ask your parish priest for more details.

I'm an Advocate/Procurator for the Church. You are not married until you do it in the Church. Technically, every time you and your husband had sex, you committed a sin.

Some yes and some no, I have people who go to my church and where marred in Vegas, they still get communion.

I am a Catholic who married in the Episcopal Church without the Catholic Church sanctifying the marriage. A few years later my father died and I was told by the priest hearing confessions at the funeral home that he could not give me absolution to receive communion at the funeral mass because I was living in sin.

There you go. That's the church for you - such loving and caring individuals...

The Catholic Church does not recognize your marriage because they haven't made money off you. Once you get married in church and pay the fee, then it is OK. The fee is what separates you and your husband from being sinners or good catholics.
