Has anyone read Collapse writen by Jared Diamond? I have read it and I think it is a fantastic book.

I haven't read it. I did read Guns Germs and Steel and thought it was interesting in bits but he argues too much from assertion and there are too many junk-science assumptions and leaps of logic. I don't think he is my type of writer, though I'm glad you enjoyed the one you read.

I have it on my shelf to read. I lent it to a friend who said it was good, but the most utterly depressing book that he had ever read!
