For an apple Macbook is 1gb of RAM enough for everyday things? (youtube, answerbag, email ect.)

For most day to day things it is more than enough. Depending on your processor/bus speed/OS version you may not have the best Video Editing/Photoshop/Audio Production speeds, but everyday tasks should be fine. Hope this helps.
