A couple of years ofter my great grandma died, I was told that she used to claim to have seen and spoken to her late husband who used to come and visit her when she was feeling down or was ill. If i'd know I would have loved to ask her about these "visits" and ask her if he'd changed from when he was alive.

When I was much younger and more trusting, I asked my maternal grandmother (1895-1976)a number of questions about her early life. Everything she told me was true, and all fit together into a nice, neat package. What she did NOT tell me was that she had been married at least four times, and that most likely my mother was illegitimate (I believe one of her uncles ...evidently something of a womanizer ..... was her real father, and his younger brother (my "grandfather") married her to save his somewhat locally prominent family from embarrassment. I wish I had been much wiser, and asked more questions!
