not happy about it. in some instances, they might use it for their own personal research. or for discrimination even though it's confidential. on the other hand, it might not be that bad. Keeping track of AIDS or making sure that people receive the right treatments...

In theory it is supposed to drastically reduce costs..moving from paper to a system that makes information about every patient immediately accessible to the medical professional..the theory being that it will be more efficient and reduce the time it takes to access/update records and also will reduce errors. I don't think a private company could do it. Whether it is actually possible to accomplish I don't know. I know in business converting to a smoothly running computerized system is not done overnight and it is not done without pain, trial and error and false steps. But once all the bugs are out, it is wonderful. I'm hoping for wonderful, eventually, should it come to pass. :)
