If you have a .303 Lee Enfield rifle it will have been manufactured between 1895 - 1959 the British,Canadian,South African, Indian & Pakistani army all used them.I have seen one for sale and the asking price is over $500,and is described as in excellent condition.A friend of mine has a short barrelled and a long barrelled both with bayonets and sling, and both have been decommissioned and are worth in the region of £200 each.

It appears that the Australians were issued with old 1914-1918 models in Korea some were dated 1905.Google the following: Pictures specifications and Field Manual of .303 Lee Enfield Rifles.

They are worth about $200 in good condition. From what you have said so far, it sounds like someone modified it a bit before you got it.
