  • Pro mech advice: YES! Especially in cold weather due to gas fumes dropping towards the exhaust, and especially in hot weather due to a greater increase in gas fumes. All it takes is one little spark -- from a relay, a switch, a shorted spark plug wire -- and you could go "boom!". Also stay away from using the cell phone when fueling, or entering/exiting the car (static, dome light switch on door). Explosions are rare, but you wouldn't want to be in that rare one when it happens.
