When the key surfaces start getting shiny, that means the plastic has actually worn down so that the lightly pebbled surface of the keys when they were new has worn away by your fingers. If you really wanted to, you could try to obtain a new keyboard of the same model and physically replace the keys (pop the old ones off, pop the new ones on), but it's really only a cosmetic thing.

It must be a laptop keyboard, eh? they usually go/wear out faster than a desktop keyboard.

I use a Clorox wipe. Cleans and disinfects. My grand kids use my computer and you can never tell what they have on their hands. LOL

The best way is to pop them off, put them in a "delicates" bag, and wash them either with a load of laundry or in the dishwasher. Take a picture of your keyboard first if you're nervous about remembering which key goes where.

409 cleaner on a soft cloth. Rub gently. the 409 will do all the work. Let dry. Carry on.
