I'm British, and our papers say some strange things, most of us are not proud and excited to be honest, he seams like a good man, we shall see :-)

Are you sure it isn't your News media telling you that, because I haven't seen any reports that I am either proud or excited. On a personal note I am delighted that a slightly less right-wing politician has become your President. I am from the UK and it seems unlikely that we will have a non-white Prime Minister in the foreseeable future, but I suspect that we have a far smaller proportion of non-European politicians than you do and, of course, we have had a female Prime Minister.
