I think you would be crushed by gravity...But to be honest I'm not to sure about it!

I have no idea, but I've pondered this so many times. That's my guess, is that you'd stop in the center... but I have no idea, it's always caused my head to hurt. xD

You'd be burnt to nothing well before that point! But suspending that whole side of things, yes. You wouldn't fly past the center of gravity any more than you would magically bounce back up the way you came. When you are sitting at the center point, BOTH directions are "up".

The center of the earth is molten lava...hence where lava erupts out of the earth in volcanoes...soooo....my guess is you would burn up...very toasted. :)

Assuming no friction from air, you would continue to accelerate as you fell down the hole until you reached a maximum velocity at the very center. As you started up the other side of the Earth, gravity would begin to slow you back down until you came to a stop at the level of the surface on the other end of the hole. If there was nothing to stop you from then falling back down the hole, you would then immediately start the return trip. On the other hand, if you did experience any air friction as you fell, you speed would be limited to some terminal velocity that would be something less than the maximum potential described above. Because you would not reach that maximum velocity, you would not have sufficient velocity to get all the way back up and out of the other side of the hole. So, you would stop at some point below the top and start to fall back toward the center of the Earth. As you bounce back and forth, friction would continue to sap energy from your system and you would eventually come to a stop at the Earth's center. Interesting factoid, at the very center of the Earth, you would not experience any gravity. The gravity generated by the material on one side of you would cancel out that generated by the material on the other side. ************* "glamorgirli: ahh see I was not sure about gravity I thought it was high at the center of the earth for some reason, and you would be crushed from pressure...Great Answer!" In reality, the weight of all the material above does create a tremendous amount of pressure at the center of the Earth. However, there is no gravity at it's very center. I know that it may seem paradoxical, but this is the case. Additionally it is tremendously hot down there (quite possible hotter then the surface of the Sun). So, in reality, drilling such a hole as is described in this question is quite impossible. However, this is still a very good thought experiment for understanding some aspects of how gravity works. Since it is a thought experiment, we can also create an airless, frictionless environment if we want to.

Kinda, but kinda not. If you drilled a hole straight through the earth, the forfces in motion would give a simple harmonic oscillation system, so your motion would be similiar to that of a pendant. But then once you factor in air resistance... over time, you would stop in the middle, yes. But not immediately
