Tough choice. I'll go with Dante's Inferno over Paradise Lost.

The Divine Comedy - but that may be because the translation I read was easier to read than Milton's words. However, Milton's universe is much more massive and chaotic (and more real) - that's more appealing to me. However, Dante's constantly arriving individuals and stories more than make up for that.

Paradise Lost for the poetry and the depth of his ideas. If I could read Italian and knew more about his references (historical characters) I might appreciate Dante more. Maybe someone could suggest a good annotated translation.

There both interesting reads. I loved the "The Divine Comedy", but I'm just now reading "Paradise Lost" and I can't put it down. The addiction factor for me is 10 times more than that of "The Divine Comedy." I feel "Paadise Lost" just told a better story, while "The Divine Comedy" was more discriptive in its nature. Both of them are great works but I have to go with "Paradise Lost".

Paradise Lost. Took a course on it in college. That was one of the most fun courses ever.
