I have a 2001 jetta epc code is on car is also shutting down now and check engine is also on

    EPC is the electronic power control. I just had the same idiot light come on in a 2001 new beetle. Take it to the dealer for repair. My symptom was that the engine went to extremely high rpms (well past the red line.) My local import repair took 6 weeks to diagnose and repair. So take yours to a dealer. Oh, yeah, mine was a short in the wiring that took out part of the computer.
