  • - First/Last month's rent or deposits - Parking (will you need a permit?) - Renter's insurance (talk to your insurance agent, it is worth it for most people) - Laundry (if you're using coin-op laundry it's rather expensive) - Deposits for utilities (popular with electric and gas) Then the obvious ones... - Rent - Water - Electricity - Gas - Food (do not underestimate this one, it will probably be your second largest expense) - Cable - Internet - Cellular phone - Land line phone Then there are the things you will need in your apartment... - Vacuum cleaner - Microwave - TV - Sofa - Table & Chairs - Kitchen utensils - Food to fill the fridge and cupboards - Toiletries, garbage cans, garbage bags, rugs, towels And outside the apartment... - Auto insurance - Gas Good luck. Life isn't cheap. I find food is the #1 area where money can be saved. Check out the grocerygame.com.
  • Depends on your budget for the apartment, but you may need some blinds/curtains for the windows. A welcome mat and a mattress are a must to start out with...hopefully it already has the fridge/stove at least. A toaster would be nice. An iron perhaps. A few utensils....glasses, mugs, plates. Ketchup! LOL Can't think of much else :)
