  • Try backing off and staying as far as you can, then when they over reach for a punch, duck to the opposite side and you should have a fairly open shot. Keep in mind, you'll have to have good reflexes to pull this off.
  • Put a horseshoe in your boxing glove
  • Get in close and stay close, range means little when you're nose to nose.
  • ... learn to punch the incoming glove with one hand, knocking it out of the way ... while at the same time launching a second, double-punch that enters the now cleared area to land a blow ... typically, this works best as you knock the hand up so you can get a low body blow in somewhere under the arm ... ... example ... opponent tries a right jab with a right foot half step forward ... you move diagonally forward and to the left, stepping with your left foot ... with your left hand you punch diagonally up and across to the right, hitting, lifting and pushing the incoming jab ... as you step, bend your left knee, drop/squat slightly and duck down, and as you move the incoming jab up and over with your left hand, smash the ribs under your opponent's right arm with your right hand ... the step and both punches must be done as one single move ... ... in a boxing ring, this is all you do, continue to 'clear & enter' with double-shots ... out in the 'no rules' streets, add a low kick as a second move with your right foot and break your opponent's forward knee, thereby ending the fight with the first two move combo ...
  • perhaps a boxing lesson, or a few would help, you sound really tough im sure you could do it!!!
  • First of all don't listen to any traditional martial arts advice, karate, aikido, tae kwon do. Here is what works; Hands up, chin down, keep your head moving, close the distance and stay in the pocket. Now you can reach him. On a taller fighter, I like to throw a left jab to the face, then a right hook to the head, if I'm landing then I'll keep going with a straight left to the face follwed by a straight right. Be in the pocket or completely out of range. Don't stand there at the end of his punches. Circle to your right to stay away from the power hand if he's a righty, and of course circle left if he's a lefty. Where are you training now?
