  • Yeah.. that is pretty sad. But some people are just assholes and love to be confrontational.. I wont lie, I'm sometimes rather confrontational but not shallow enough to pick on someone about a typo or spelling error..
  • I have not seen people do this in questions but then that does not mean that it is not done. I am fine with a question if the person makes an effort to be legible. If someone obviously is not making an effort or, even worse, typing like that to be "cool," I usually just walk away from it. I might answer asking for clarification. Often I will answer state what I think they mean and answer that question if I am not certain what they are asking due to a poorly written question, asking them to restate it if I did not get it right. I have never offended an asker by doing this. Sometimes I do smart off about it and try to not do that very often. I usually only do that if the question is a rude one. Rude questions and answers make my Grammar and Spelling Nazi nerve jump. Thankyou for the reminder, Headache.
  • Only time I would do that is Jokingly when I know it was a typo. I would never make fun of someone for bad spelling. A lot of folks look at their fingers when they type and don't even realize they made a mistake. I think its more of a shame when someone just rates you on whether or not you agree with them.
  • I've found here on AB, at least among the catagories I usually search and those related to the ones answered/commented on my those in my friends list, that this is not typical behavior. (Slamming people for poor spelling, that is.) It happens, but not to the extent I've seen elsewhere. If it were typical behavior on AB, we'd ALL get slammed a lot. I'm usually pretty good about checking my spelling and grammar prior to posting something, but sometimes things just slip through, or I'll post without reviewing what I've just written. AB is an international website. People from all around the world are members here. English is not always the first language of the member because of this, so consideration must be given to that. People surf the internet through many devices, including cell phones and PDA's, so conventional typing/spelling/grammar may not be as convenient as the texting style of writing. So consideration must also be given to that as well. And, of course, age, education, geographical dialects, and more play a factor as well. Which also require consideration. SOMETIMES spelling and grammer get on my nerves. But I try not to let it affect how I respond, if I choose to respond. But a person who apologizes up front may simply be doing so because they realize their spelling sucks and they simply want to let people know so that it won't affect the quality of answer they may post.
  • Depends on how many and how bad the spelling errors are. Everyone learns how to write and speak English....It's a simple concept.
