Would any even reasonably sane homosexual try to play footsie with a total stranger, the way Larry Craig did ? I think the chance of hitting on an eager gay guy is quite small compared to the risk of hitting on a homophobic redneck eager to beat you up.

There's a lot of behavior I don't understand but it doesn't keep me from trying to. In this instance, I'm thinkin' the risk to someone in the closet would be outweighed by their desire for anonymity.

No. Most LGBT people (and most straight people) know there is a proper place and time to ask another person for sex. A rest room is not such a location.

Maybe. I wouldn't , but Larry Craig was more frightened by publicly admitting his homosexuality than he was by hitting on a stranger. That is what society has caused....But why was the straight guy responding? entrapment?

No, none that I know of. Until that incident, I'd never even heard of such "signals" in a restroom. Most folks, gay or straight, who are reasonably intelligent wouldn't seek out sex with a stranger in a restroom. Unfortunately, incidents like this lead a lot of "homophobic rednecks" to believe that all LGBT people are like that!

Well, airport men's rooms are often used for pickups, so it's hard to say. There are signals that tell you someone else is also interested. That's how Craig was caught. I doubt a redneck would know the secret language or even notice.
