Maybe they can't spell it, thanx;0)
-
I don't know, but it is really annoying.
-
Its just a form of being different like people spelling their nick name with an I at the end when it use to be a Y. or drawing a heart to dot an I.
-
I don't it's always thanks for me so Thanks,
-
its much easier to write it thanx in texting on the phone
-
I just think it's easy. Didn't know it was irritating. I will probably continue to do it anyway. As I am a rebel. I think there's much bigger fish to fry here than Thanks or Thanx. :)

They are supremely lazy.
-
It is slang!I always write thankyou as that is the non lazy way!
-
well, i usually type at least 100 time a day 'thanx', so it saves me a 100*365 = 36500 key strokes, which I can use to write some document.
-
And why do people say thanks instead of "thank you"? Life is so confusing.
-
No it's not. Thanx compared to Thanks x is 2 letters & 1 space less . If it was 3 letters less it could be Thanksex.
-
People are lazy! That's why they use "u" instead of "you".
-
Thanx @ thanks x. I'm too tired...
-
plus thanks takes two hands and thanx only takes one, except for the h
-
it's for aesthetics....thanx!!!!

The english language is an evolving entity and words like "thanks" turning into "thanx" are natural. Despite the fact that I don't like it, it still is so. "Brats" has become "Bratz" and in a few years the word "cuz" is going to be in the dictionary because the kids write it as if it is a word! I don't like it, but you cannot ignore the fact that language is not static, it is dynamic in nature. If you tried to read english written 150yrs ago you might struggle, and if they read what we now write they would say the same thing as us --- why why why? Sad, but true.
-
"Tanks" is even shorter but tends to confuse people.
-
why do people type "nope" instead of no when it is actually longer? English is a funny language and people will always find ways to manipulate it for no particular reason whatsoever except to be different.
-
I prefer thnx
