I didn't realize that islands could go fishing! Nah, seriously, I think it is pretty awful that people would use live dogs for shark bait, but then again, I also think that most shark fishing is pretty disgusting anyway. :(

I think it's absolutely awful if that is happening. However, you have to bear in mind that different cultures view animal life in different ways. It is quite common in ALL countries to use live fish as bait and I have never seen a hue and cry about this. Perhaps the culture in the case you cite sees no difference between using a live fish as bait and using a live dog as bait.

i cant even bear to think about what those poor dogs go through!! i watched a documentary on eating dogs in Vietnam and felt physically sickened by it, however i do respect other countries couture! They don’t know any different, I was more appalled about how they were treated while they were alive!! Feeding live dogs to sharks is also unnecessary; sharks will go for just lumps of meat, so why they use live dogs I don’t know!
