  • i would normally say that yes they do but considering the hostility the US is facing i think it is justified but WHERE the money goes that is another story.
  • We probably do, but I would never want to cut the salaries of the people in the military; they're just doing their jobs, like anyone else. I think we spend too much money and risk too many lives by sending them to Iraq, though.
  • Not enough. The US has it's priorities messed up it seems. I think that they spend too much on government assistance, college loans/grants, political campaigns/advertising, and international relations.
  • I believe they spend an insane amount.I looked in the interenet and found of the Military budget increase that Bush has just asked for will next year cost each man, woman and child $800.Domestic issues and concerns are way down the list .Look at Katrina, the poor,Medicare, retirement benifits. The list goes on and on,and where these trillions should be spent is on those issues.
  • ohh yessssh the united states now in such deep debt >< i dont know what bush is thinking
  • Being in the military and the mission that I have to accomplish...HELL NO...Everyone thinks that we get paid so much money. PPPWWWHHHTTTT!!! I havent seen a damn dime. These pay raises are to keep up with inflation. A 3% pay raise means a whooping 75$ extra a month. I still have to pay for food, rent, utilities, etc. the government only helps with a percentage. I havent even mentioned that I am a single father paying for daycare and her needs. So what do i have on average every month to save? About 40-70 dollars IF I am lucky....;)
  • NO, there are too many other countries as well that rely on the US for their security as well, and with the Clinton cuts we are still not built back to where we should be with the growing threats looming around the globe.
  • No, I don't think they spend enough.
  • A lot of Americans died in WW1, 2, & Korea because the US military has traditionally been gutted after wars or when the threat seems to go away. We have a professional military with weapons that are well past anyone else's; this is expensive. It'd be great if we could all sit around in a circle and sing kumbaya, but if our guys don't have the training or equipment, a lot of them will die.
  • Given that we spend more on our military than the rest of the world COMBINED, I think it's safe to say that we're spending too much on our military (or we have too many enemies...:-P...). Note: The issue of military personell pay is a *separate* issue. Solidier pay is a *tiny* fraction of the military budget.
