Yes. There are smart people here who will honestly answer a question, you just have to weed out the idiots and smart asses first.

Depends on the seriousness of the question. I would not ask about what to do about something that needed immediate attention from a doctor or a vet. Otherwise yes I probably would.

Sometimes, yes absolutely. I have asked for recipes, advice, all kinds of specific questions and a lot of people have had good and helpful answers.

Yes! As I read the questions and answers I can tell that many of the responses have quality and were well thought out before they were written. I can also see that the way a question is asked has a lot to do with the quality of the answers. Ask a stupid question and most, not all, but most of your answers are going to be stupid. Put your question out here in a well thought out format and you are going to get quality answers. There are some smart people out here in all age and interest groups and it's fun as well as educational learning from each of them. Yes, I would post a serious question to get a serious answer.

It depends on the type of question. If it is something knowledge-based, I would probably be more likely to post it on Mahalo Answers where people are more serious with their responses. Plus, you can give real tips to good answers which is a great incentive for great responses.

I have many times with good success. AB has helped me to also have fun with questions and answers when appropriate.

It depends on the question. I mostly ask non-personal (to me) questions on AB. With personal questions, I usually find answers within.

It would all depend on just what the question is ... More than likely; I'd post it just to see what others THINK about my situation,idea, etc ...

Yeah, I have posted such questions on AB. Most of them were computer-related. However, when I really need very specific information, either I look for the answer myself via Google or post a question on Yahoo! Answers.
