  • Perhaps because of the desire / need to make the seemingly insignificant feel significant. 4 bare walls - pretty boring and impersonal. Adding some personal touches - paint in favorite colors, photographs, art, makes us feel more "at home". Being surrounded by familiar and favorite items, colors, etc. is comforting.
