  • Sure does. Such establishments don't get my business anymore. And the owner/manager gets a letter explaining why.
  • No, infact I prefer it. I know what I need, and some pimply faced high school kid trying to sell me something I don't need will just end up pissing me off.
  • It bothers me exactly enough to vote w/ my wallet and fund their competitors.
  • I was wondering why SNL always make fun of those big chain stores. The cashier kept talking about herself to the customer volunteraly. I found out that when I was in one of them, the clerk/employee chatted about personal problem with a Customer (a neighbor I guess)for almost 30 minutes. And those store in small country setting still accept check as payment...another 30 minutes check out process.
  • Yeah, it's pretty annoying
  • Happens to me at McDonald's all the time... lol I hate it but, I'm usually too excited about food to yell at anybody, I think.
  • No, I don't mind, I would start chatting with them and then slightly make a turn in the conversation to what I'm interested to get!
  • Not really. I couldn't care less if they're carrying on a conversation with another employee. If I need them to ring up my purchase, then as long as they do so quickly and accurately, I really don't care if they continue to converse with someone else. I don't need to have a conversation with the employee just to pay for my stuff. If I have a question - and make that obvious to the employee - then they should pause their conversation long enough to make sure my question is answered. If that doesn't happen, then management should know about it. But I've worked retail. It's usually repetitive and quite dull, and only the interaction with other people helps to make the time pass. It was never a habit to carry on conversations all day long - but a few times during the day, when business was slower, conversations sprang up. And it was really helpful in passing the time. I don't think that employees should be reprimanded simply for talking to their coworkers. What's important is that their job duties are still performed and the customers are still assisted with whatever they need.
  • annoys the a$&^% out of me! They are getting paid to work, not carry on a conversation with their friend. If I have a choice, I would leave my items right there on the counter and go to another store.
  • It's annoying especially if it's a government business establishment...i mean what are you paying your taxes for?
