If I were to ask you to name all 50 states and you got 49 but couldn't remember the last one, which state do you think you'd forget? After you answer, can you explain the irony in this?

Obviously the irony would be that you wouldn't forget the state that you give as your answer because you must have remembered it in order to give it as your answer. To get around this problem, I actually DID try to name all 50 states and actually did manage to name them all, which surprised me a great deal... the two that I remembered last were West Virginia and Virginia, but I doubt I would have remembered them at all if I hadn't browsed a page of State Mottos yesterday in response to somebody else's questions and found the West Virginia motto amusingly odd. edit - I have a confession to make. I just double-checked my list (I wrote them down as I went) and found I had written Phoenix as a state for some reason, which was stupid, so actually I only got 49. The one I forgot was... *drum roll*... Massachussetts! The Bee Gees would be appalled at me!

Just for the sake of this question, I went off and tried to name all 50 states. I got 49. The one I forgot was Minnesota. I knew I was missing one, and where it was on the map, but I couldn't make my brain remember Minnesota. Last time I did this, I forgot Texas. How can I forget Texas? I have no idea... it's just so big, I left it out!

I can honestly say I wouldn't forget a single one. In elementary school our music teacher taught us a song that names all 50 states in alphabetical order. 20 years later, I've never forgotten that song.

I'm too much of a book nerd for this question - I always get them all. I can even name them in alpha order w/o having to go back. *hides in shame* where do I report for my wedgie?

We had to learn the 50 States and State capitals by rote. I think I could still get the States but the capitals would be a struggle. I would probably leave out somewhere very obvious like Hawaii or Alaska if i left out some or maybe Indiana

I don't think I'd forget any of them (In alphabetical order). I might stumble after 48 state capitals only because I don't need to know them.
