I'm generally pro-union, but I have found that they result in the tenured non-producer being treated better than the rookie producer. What am I missing?

I agree. I think unions are a good idea. They protect the worker from being screwed by the employer for FAIR wages and job security. The problem is like you said. Older workers get entrenched and it's had to get rid of them. Also, they keep demanding more and more money. When you have assembly line workers making upwards of $30/hour, they shouldn't complain when their jobs get shipped to Mexico.

I feel the same way. While I am thankful that I have a job in this economy, why to my subordinates (who do far less work than me) make more money than me? Saying, "Because they have worked for the company for X years" doesn't cut it.
