The Bible has the old testament and the new testament, which the new testament is where Jesus Christ comes into the story. And the Torah (Jewish bible) is basicaly the old testament without the new testament, which is why they don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah, and they are still waiting for the Messiah.
-
because they belive that the new testiment is false

The Jews were (and still are) waiting for an earthly king to avenge Israel and set up his kingdom on earth. However, the Old Testament (the Torah, the major & minor prophets, and the poetic books) was pointing not at an earthly king, but at a spiritual redeemer for our sins, to make us holy in the sight of God. The entire New Testament attests to Jesus being the Messiah, both God and Man, showing how Jesus fulfilled every prophecy concerning the Messiah and explaining the Old Testament concerning the laws and sacrifices and how everything pointed to Jesus. In fact, although Jews say He was a false prophet, every single prophecy Jesus made came true, even predicting who would betray Him, how and when He would die, and being raised from the dead and returning to God's right hand.

It was my understanding that the Jewish faith don't belive the "Messiah" has come yet, they believe Jesus was a prophet like Mohammad but not the son of God..There are Messianic Jews who do believe that Christ was the son of God. Hope that helps

If i remeber correctly, they believe he is to come in present day? Maybe not.

In a nutshell, the Pharisees and the Sedducees who were in charge of religion for profit had become accustomed to their trappings. Jesus challenged the notion of salvation for profit, so to accept Him as the Messiah would have meant to give up their way of life.
-
many Jews did accept Jesus as Messiah, the religious leaders and High Priests were the main ones...greed, power status,pride.... Jesus was now HIGH PRIEST.....they would be out of jobs!!!
-
Simply because they don't believe he is. Would you just "accept" that he isn't? Same deal.
-
He did not fulfill the prophecies that a messiah is supposed to fulfill, including ushering in an era of eternal peace...

i think tht religion is personal matter.every religion want make us a better person.i respect every religion so we dont criticize for other faith n tradition.u can talk good view about ur religion only.goodluck n pls dont anger.jesus is great gift for us from god.nobody person of this earth cannot say bad about him bad.if he did it than he is not a human only a animal. i m muslim but i want to like die than to listen bad about him .
-
5/6 of the planet don't, why is that such a surprise?
-
he did not fit the notion of what they thought the messiah should look like, or be like. at the time of jesus presence the jewish nation was under roman oppression. they were wanting to be liberated. they wanted this messiah to liberate them and end their suffering. instead jesus christ's teachings were considered very radical and his message of peace was very unacceptable to most of the jewish population. they could not understand that their liberation would one day come only not in their lifetime.
-
Primarily because he died without accomplishing any of the prophecies concerning the messiah. The Sadducees did not believe in the concept of the messiah at all. The Pharisees did, and in all likelihood Jesus was himself a Pharisee. His teachings were certainly in accordance with Pharisaic teachings - specifically the Hillelite school. Even after his death, the leader of the Pharisees, Gamaliel, advised the sandhedrim to allow for the possibility that he was the messiah. However when he failed to reappear and when it became obvious the Romans weren't going anywhere, they turned their attention to other claimed messiahs who had the added benefit that they were still alive. Bar Kokhba probably came closest to actually succeeding in driving out the Romans but they soon returned with more soldiers and massacred Bar Kokhba's army. So, one more non-messiah struck off the list.

because he did not meet the conditions. Not even close. That simple. I think jews know a little more about their prophecies than non jews. People who never met jesus did a great job of trying to twist old prophecies to match jesus but it didn't fool the jewish faithful one bit. It fooled people who knew nothing about the religion and still does to this day.

They were waiting for Royalty. They couldnt accept a commoner. Jesus is the King in the Spiritual Realm. They missed it because of their constraints of their relationship to The Law. Jesus fulfilled The Law. He said it is more important to follow the Spirit of The Law, instead of the Letter of The Law. . That is why sin no longer exists.
