  • Then this makes them even more of a friend because they are helping you although they wish they could do otherwise!
  • I think it's a nice gesture, but I would prefer someone is more honest with me. If they don't want to do it, tell me. The world won't come to an end and maybe we can find a compromise.
  • Like I wish I hadn't needed their help and sincerely sorry I bothered them. And grateful, of course.
  • I feel bad, but I make up for for by doing something special for them later on
  • Grateful.
  • I make it a point to never put anyone in that position. When my son was 12 years we had a very serious discussion about "obligation". I told him at that time that I never wanted him to feel obliged or obligated to do anything for me. If he wanted to do something, that was fine. But never grudgingly because that would be worse than doing nothing. I still feel that way. So I am very very careful what help I accept..it is always offered first, never asked for and sometimes if I can handle it myself I do. As a result my son and I are best friends because I never take advantage of him or any of my friends or family. :)
