Do doctors still smack baby's butt when they are born

    I am in my OB rotation in nursing school and just witnessed to deliveries this past week. Babies are no longer smacked on the bottom to initiate the first cry. Both babies were rubbed down with a towel. No smacking involved!

    Not mine but I did smack the nurse's butt when my 2nd baby was born and she gave me a big :)
