Is it possible for a parent and a child to wind up with not much in common? How do you handle that?

me and my mum have nothing in common at all, we dont even have the same views on things. its not a problem at all, we still get on.

no i dont have anything common with my mum so i try not to talk to her :D

yes, it's possible. i have nothing in common with either of my parents. i just don't talk to them much because i don't like the way they live their lives.

Absolutely. I think that is why in large families it is unavoidable to have a "favorite"..you know, the child that "gets you" and shares much in common with you. I am lucky. I have one son and we have a great deal in common..but even if we didn't we would get along very well because he is simply the kind of person that likes everyone and whom everyone likes. I am not like that. Some people like me a great deal and some don't like me at all. It is what it is, as some would say! :) I think you just have to accept that you have little in common. No one's fault..it is what it is! :)
