  • unless your bank chooses to cover your mistake, temporarily, it will refuse to pay the check, and will charge you a fee for overdrawing your account, and return the check to your landlord's bank. your landlord's bank will charge HIM a fee for sending them a check that bounced and I imagine he will want you to reimburse him in the future and pay with a cashier's check in the future. take a personal finance class. if you don't have enough money in your account to cover ever single check you've written, all on the same day, the money wasn't "in there"
  • Contact your landlord immediately, explain to him/her what happened, apologize and hope that an arrangement for payment can be worked out, including bank charges he will face and even some interest. Don't do it again!
