Because they are only entertaining to children. How would adults look acting like clowns without the makeup? Plus the makeup is hideous also.

I like clowns,as i find clowns entertaining at the circuses.

my children ( and only the daughters feel this way ) say clowns are creepy and scary because you don't know who or what that person is under that makeup. they feel uneasy and threatened by clowns. i grew up in a day and time when children adored clowns and their funny antics, we were more protected, less willing to see menace in the innocent and childlike.

I don't really know why. I like clowns especially for children who are expecting lots of funtime with the them.

well...because they are masked. Those creepy fixed red smiles...with their faces so white and their eyes poking through so beady :( they are not attractive. And i dont like clowns because of Gacy.
