Because we associate anything that we really like as sin. I think it probably started back from The Apple in the Garden of Eden. The Puritans in England in the 17th Century made everything enjoyable a sin, it is something that has been etched into the human psyche.

I agree, they're not. Only if you or the people you call your peers think that it's wrong or a sin, then it becomes one. So basically, if everyone didn't think shoplifing was bad, then we could shoplift to our hearts content. =)
