i do believe it is on the rise. i also believe the reason for this is the womanizers. Women are getting quite fed up with being lied to and used for sex. So, some are resorting to the theory that they are gonnna get SOMETHING outta this. However, when women find a man who loves them and treats them kind and respectfully, almost all lose interest completely in his income.

They may be on the rise but there are still women out there that think about more than money... My man is wonderful... he has no job and nothing to offer except his fantastic heart! Thats why I love him!

In this day and age lot of women earn more Money than their partners and even if they have children still go back to work. In a lot of cases women actually have more money than the man they marry. I will not say that SOME women do not marry for money but you have made a very sweeping all encompassing statement.

That is a gross generalisation. And surely any man who marries a woman who is only in it for the money must be kidding himself as well... that can't be a loving relationship if money is her motivator, no one is that good an actor.

I doubt its increased, as women have always married for money. Ive heard plenty of women mention a negative factor of a man and it happened to be he was poor or broke, though I have never heard any guy in my life time comment negatively about a girl and it be that she was poor. I wouldn't say it ruins lives either, its just the way things are. As a guy its a good thing in my opinion because unlike women who have to rely on physical looks, which usually dwindle by their thirties, men, we can be an old grandpa and still attract slender twenty-year olds, by just having some cash :)

I don't think people are increasingly getting married for money, of either sex. I think that people are even more shallow than that. But I know that many people of both sexes get married for all the right reasons, same as they have in the past. Most people aren't rich or poor these days, we are all struggling, and often women make more money than men do/.

I think some men are gold diggers along with some women. this is not a woman or a man thing it is a "person" thing. I think that both genders can marry for money.

No I don't think it is on the rise. And, although some women and some men may marry for money, most don't. In fact I would say that most women marry for love. I have also seen a lot of men get married because they want a second mummy, someone who will cook for them and clean up after them.
