  • Actually, I did quite a bit of research on this and it seems that even a single portion of a few raisins or grapes can be fatal. Also these are not recommended for dogs: - larger portions of broccoli - raw potatoes (peel and meat) - avocados - chocolate - cigarette butts - any mushrooms - too much salt or sugar - wheat - alcohol - apple, pear, peach seeds
  • chocolates and drinks etc http://lifestyle.msn.com/your-life/just-dreaming/staticslideshowrs.aspx?cp-documentid=22407537&GT1=32001 heres a must know for ppl with dogs what to not feed them. NJOY!!
  • Apples are OKAY as long as they don't reach the core because that is the poisonous part. The skin of the apple is very nutritious as is the flesh of it, but not the seeds or hard core unless you want some hardcore damage. *Absolutely NO berries except organic (chemical/pesticide-free) strawberries. Cranberries? I see it some dog foods and treats but in my vet tech classes I read they are poisonous so . . . not sure why pet food companies are bringing that ingredient in today's food saying it's okay when in the past it would kill a dog. *Chocolate, especially Dark Chocolate and Cocoa, as well as coffee, tea and no s**t absolutely no alcohol (duh). Contain caffeine, theobromine, or theophylline, which can be toxic and affect the heart and nervous systems. *No breads!!! Yeast is almost the equivalent of setting off a bomb in your dog. Not good :-| *Citrus oil, baby foods, fat trimmings, cat food, drugs, tomato, most potatoes (sweet potatoes are fine depends how they are prepared) rhubarb, peach and plum pits, mushrooms, most nuts, white flour, large amounts of liver, any dairy except PLAIN yogurt (you want to experiment with cheese you can do that, but I wouldn't advise it), spices, Xylitol (found in gum...gives it that coolness but gives your dog liver failure), sugary foods (Kibbles 'N Bits & Ol' Roy don't offer any nutritional value except bare minimums and sugar. Of course your dog loves it. It's flavorful but so is your favorite dessert! :P). And of course garbage, moldy, and stinky/sour foods are sure to send your dog to doggy Heaven soon too. ***Broccoli is OKAY in small amounts. Unsalted/Unlfavored canned or cooked green beans are wonderful, healthy treats but as with anything that is healthy and safe, that doesn't mean they need to be over fed with them. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+1659&aid=1030 http://www.animalpetsandfriends.com/Article/25-Human-Foods-Toxic-To-Dogs/300 http://petcare.suite101.com/article.cfm/toxic_foods_for_dogs http://www.petalia.com.au/templates/storytemplate_process.cfm?specie=Dogs&story_no=257 http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/people-foods.html Most of those sources show the same foods, but I included them here because each gives important information that others may have missed. If you ever are unsure if a food is safe or not, don't risk it. Ask a few vets (B/c some say garlic is okay in small amounts while others completely disagree and BOTH sides backup their reasons) and go with your instincts if you really want to know and really feel the desire to feed that food to your pet, but the best bet is to play safe and don't feed anything you are unsure about or don't even know. You want to be sure, because even if you don't know . . . that could cost you your pet's life for that one simple mistake of lack of knowledge. Not worth it to me.
