What would you do about friends whom you helped when they were in need but who turned round & do not return what they owe you? Christianity teach us we should lend without expecting it to be returned and to forgive. I find it is easier said than done.

I don't mind. I have a friend that owes me $40 that I have never even mentioned and they have owed it for a few years now. I just don't lend her that much anymore.

That will teach us not to do it again if you are having regrets about it. Yeah it is easier said then done. I paid $700 for my ex to get new tires and rimes. On top of $300 to $400 to get his bank account out of the hole. I learned pretty quucikly after that not to LEND him money. I got $150 back then nothing.

The only thing I knew the bible said about lending was - don't do it! 'Neither a borrower nor a lender be'. Give without expecting return it says, not 'lend'. Then again it really sucks to believe and trust someone and give them a chance; to go out of your way to bail them out at a cost to yourself because they were desperate, only to find they have no care for your feelings, and no sense of responsibility, and to end up feeling used. If it helps I don't suppose the kind of treasure they are storing for themselves in heaven is going to be a very nice surprise for them - perhaps from an eternal viewpoint you could start out from feeling sorry for them on that account.
